A better bet is to head farther north to Highway 1 along the Marin and Sonoma Counties. This is south of the development in Mendocino County but has great views and endless corners like PCH does but usually without the traffic. The last time I drove this section of road I had it practically to myself, and the occasional vehicle I came upon was usually pretty easy to dispatch.

Down by the entrance to the San Francisco bay there are several roads that can provide entertainment as well, but as you are getting closer to civilization the chances of other vehicles on the road increases. This far north the season weather can also be more of a factor than in southern California.
