Below is a selection of roads for this area. I have not driven every road in the area, and not every road I drive is worthy of ending up on this list. If there are any roads that you feel should be listed and don't see below, let me know.

In an attempt to better explain what the road is like, I have also developed a rating system for the roads I drive. These reviews are based on personal preference and perspective, but hopefully they will help you decide which route(s) to take on your next drive.

Fun . . . . . . . . (1-5, 5 being best)
Difficulty . . . . .(Low, Medium, High)
Traffic . . . . . . (None, Light, Medium, High)
Driveways . . . .(Amount of driveways & cross traffic; None, Light, Medium, High)
Condition . . . . (Road & surface condition; Poor, Fair, Good)

As you can see from the maps there are a lot of good roads in the area, and most of the ones shown here I sampled in one afternoon. One of the most amazing roads I have ever driven, Old San Marcos Pass, is in this area. The mountains that border Santa Barbara to the north rise quickly and steeply away from the ocean, and that leads for some great roads. Highway 33 out of Ojai is quite possibly the best road in Southern California, providing a long distance drive with hill climbs, switchbacks, canyon runs, and high speed straights. Heading north through Santa Barbara County can be a great alternative to the 5 Freeway.

Click on the road you wish to view, or you can also click on the adjacent areas to be taken to that page.
